Interlibrary Collaboration
Interlibrary cooperation refers to sharing resources between libraries, providing readers access to journals, book copies, and in some cases, book lending services from other libraries. In today's information-rich era, no single library can fully satisfy readers' knowledge needs with its limited staff and collections. Especially for libraries in technical and vocational institutions with limited budgets, cooperation between libraries is essential to overcome financial constraints, utilize resources effectively, and maximize the use of library information across institutions.
Reader service is a primary purpose of libraries, so "interlibrary cooperation" is considered a crucial reader service. By using digital collection databases or union catalog systems, interlibrary cooperation services are offered. The goal is to "enhance online learning resources" and "share library resources," moving towards a new era of digital libraries.
The services currently provided by our library include document delivery and interlibrary loans. The usage instructions and descriptions are as follows: (Only available for NCHU faculty, staff, and students)
1. National Document Delivery Service (NDDS) (Fee required, pick up at library counter)
Website: http://ndds.stpi.narl.org.tw/
Through the National Document Delivery Service, users can request books held by NDDS partner institutions and request copies of domestic and international journals or books (including materials from China). Users can search the required documents and holding libraries through the system's union catalog and submit requests using an approved account. The library will process requests accordingly. Users are responsible for handling fees and shipping costs. Details of the charges are available on the NDDS website.
First-time users must apply for an account. Once approved by the library staff, an email notification will be sent to activate the account. Eligibility is limited to NCHU faculty, staff, and students.
★ Since May 2024, the NUST x SDGs project is ongoing. This program unites the library resources of 11 partner universities. Through NDDS, users can request free loans (pick up at the applying school's library). Related books can be viewed at the official website. When applying, note "Free loan during 113 NUST Sustainable Book Fair" in the remarks field.
